The Misfit Mothers of Jesus

It is fascinating to examine Jesus’ genealogy in Matthew. There are five women mentioned among the predominantly male list – Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, “the wife of Uriah” (also known as Bathsheba), and Mary. We might expect these women to be pristine and perfect, since the Son of God is who He is. We would be wrong. Each of them leading up to Mary had messy, challenging lives. What great news! God uses messy, challenging people like these women, and like us. Join us as we study these “misfit mothers of Jesus.”
